VMD: How to report an adverse reaction to pet medicine
Giles Davis is the Head of the Pharmacovigilance Unit of The Veterinary Medicines Directorate
. He is in charge of the team that follows up reports of Adverse Events; reactions to veterinary medicines that are unfavourable and unwanted or when they do not seem to have worked as they should have done. He tells how the information is collated, what numbers of cases have to be reported to be considered significant and what happens as a result of the reports.
Everyone can help to play a part in reporting adverse events, be they professionals such as vets, farmers, veterinary nurses etc but also pet owners. Should the need ever arise, he shows us how to access and complete the online form.
