Staying safe at Christmas
In this video, veterinary surgeon Anna Marshall talks about keeping our dogs at home safe at Christmas, including the dangers of chocolate which is poisonous to dogs.
Christmas can be a difficult as well as a fun time for dogs. Anna specialises in small animals and works in the Roebuck Veterinary Surgery in Stevenage. She is all too aware of the risks Christmas can bring for dogs and cats. In this video, she tells us some of the dangers to look out for, what possible symptoms the dog may display, what treatments are available and how to keep dangers away from dogs in the first place.
Appart from suffering from stress, your dog may be tempted to just plain overeat, or to consume many of the products that are safe for people to eat but poisonous to dogs such as: grapes and grape related foods, chocolate and caffeine. Dogs have also been known to consume a whole range of non-foods ranging from Christmas decorations to Anti-freeze!
