P.A.T. dogs: Pets As Therapy
Lisa Coles, Chief Executive of Pets As Therapy tell us, in this video, about the valuable work the charity does. Working with approximately 5000 volunteers, they visit people in establishments such as hospices, care homes, hospitals and special needs schools with their Pets As Therapy dogs and cats.
Pets As Therapy has been in existence for nearly 30 years and has taken part in a number of studies which highlight the real physical and mental health benefits to be gained from contact with pets. Lisa shares with us the sorts of benefits a Pets As Therapy dog can bring, even, on one occasion, helping to bring a child out of a coma.
