How a wolf pack works
Having studied captive wolves for years, Toni Shelbourne can claim to be something of an expert. With a wealth of experience of dogs, too, she has recently focussed on writing and is particularly interested in the comparison between dogs and wolves. In this video, she explains the typical wolf pack. She outlines what sorts of relationships exist, how many wolves you are likely to find in a pack and why packs are formed in this way.
She also looks at the different roles within a wolf pack and how individuals generally work together for the benefit of the group. People tend to assume that packs have a clear, linear hierarchy, but in reality, the relationships may a lot more fluid than we realise.
