Dog training: reinforcement and punishment
In this video, dog behaviour expert Dr. Roger Abrantes explains what reinforcement and punishment really are and how they can be used effectively in dog training.
He explains that 'reinforcement' and 'punishment' have nothing to do with violence or causing pain but are ways to increase or decrease the intensity, frequency and / or duration of a behaviour. Reinforcement increases behaviours and punishment decreases them. He explains what this means in practise using positive training methods.
