As a nation of dog-lovers, one of the things we need to be aware of is that the unavoidable by-product of popular dog-ownership is a large quantity of dog waste. In the UK, at present, about 1,000 tonnes of dog waste is produced per day so the question is, what can we do about it?
In the wild, animal waste is dealt with in a natural way by worms so it seems logical to suggest that worms may be a good way to deal with dog waste too. A company called Earth Essentials Ltd
make dog wormeries for that very purpose.
In this video, Jill Diamond the Managing Director of Earth Essentials, explains how the wormery works to produce a natural product that we can use as a garden fertiliser and plant feeder.
