Controlling reactive dogs
Dogs need be safe, people need to be safe around dogs and dogs need to feel safe. For Brenda Aloff, the best way to achieve all of this is to ensure that it is the owner and not the dog that is in control.
She argues that if dogs learn to be comfortable with the idea of a handler taking control, they are better able to cope with a range of situations such as vet exams. In this video, Brenda shows us some of the techniques she uses to teach the dog to become comfortable enough to allow their owner to take control of situations.
These techniques are great for any dog, but especially those who are fearful, nervous, reactive or aggressive.
