Watch video: Cavalier Matters

Cavalier Matters provides advice for potential and existing owners of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels including hereditary health issues.

Tanya Ledger set up Cavalier Matters two years ago. Having done what she thought was thorough research into owning Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, she went ahead and bought two, Molly and Dougal. When Molly became sick, Tanya spent a small fortune on veterinary fees before discovering that Molly was suffering from Syringomyelia (SM), a disease that is particularly prevalent in this breed. Molly is now on medication and able to lead a much more comfortable life.

Tanya set up Cavalier Matters to provide people with clear information on this disease and to let them know where to go for help. Since then, Cavalier Matters has gone on to expand its remit, helping, amongst other things, to fund valuable research such as MRIs and postmortems for cavs, which give researchers valuable information on heart, pancreas and Syringomyelia in Cavalier King Charles spaniels.
